Aargau Verkehr AG (AVA) is a Swiss transportation company based in Aargau. It was formed on June 19, 2018, from the merger of BDWM Transport and the Wynental and Suhrental Railway. The company operates both rail services and, through its wholly owned subsidiary Limmat Bus AG, bus services. Services are operated in the cantons of Aargau, Zürich and Lucerne.

History

Aargau Verkehr formed on June 19, 2018, from the merger of BDWM Transport and the Wynental and Suhrental Railway.[1] The two companies had already been under joint management, with services marketed under the brand AAR bus + bahn.[2]

Routes

AVA owns and operates the following 1,000 mm (3 ft 3+38 in) gauge railway lines:

The company also has the contract to operate services on the Limmattal light rail line, which is currently under construction, although a section has opened as part of Zürich tram route 2.[1]

AVA also operates a number of bus routes under its own name:[3][4]

The company also operates, through its wholly owned subsidiary Limmat Bus AG, a network of 10 bus routes between Zürich and Killwangen. These services are operated under contract to Verkehrsbetriebe Zürich (VBZ), and carry that organisation's brand rather than that of AVA.[3][5]
