History

In 2016, Juhwan and Zee, then label mates of Fluxus Music, teamed up to form a synth based indie rock project. They soon recruited Dayoung and Geunchang to fully form the quartet. The name Adoy was inspired by Juhwan's cat, Yoda, whom the band spent time with during the production of their first release. The band name is simply Yoda spelled backwards.[2] In 2017, Adoy released their first EP [Catnip] to numerous positive responses.

In 2018, the band released their second EP [Love], which includes one of their most popular songs to date, 'Wonder.' With this release they began playing shows abroad, including Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan.[3] Due to the success of this EP, the band won the Special Judges Awards at the 2019 Seoul Music Awards.

In late 2019, Adoy released their first full-length release [Vivid]. Their planned Asia tour was canceled due to the COVID outbreak, but they still performed numerous online shows, including a live performance broadcast in LUCfest 2020.[4] After their 3rd EP [her] release in 2021, the band toured Asia and the US.

In 2023, Adoy returned with a remake album [us], in which other musicians remade their favorite songs from the band. The lineup includes Sunset Rollercoaster and JORDANN.
