Catherine Owen is a Canadian poet, writer, and performer.

Early life

Catherine Owen was born and raised in Vancouver, the eldest of five siblings. At age 11, a short story won a Catholic Schools writing contest.She began performing her poetry as a teenager. Owen now resides in Edmonton.[1]

Career

Her first work was published by Exile Editions in 1998. Since then, she has published 16 poetry, non-fiction and fiction books. She regularly reviews poetry and prose for Canadian publications.

As a musician she has played with the metal bands Inhuman and Helgrind and a solo project called Grieve. She has also performed several one woman plays.

Owen runs the performance series 94th Street Trobairitz, and hosts a podcast, Ms Lyric's Poetry Outlaws.[2] She has a web page called The Reading Queen, where she reads books for children.[3]
