Tommi Jyry (born 16 August 1999) is a Finnish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder and captains the Veikkausliiga club Inter Turku.[1]

Career

HIFK

A product of the HJK youth academy, Jyry started his professional career after transferring to a rival club HIFK ahead of the 2017 Veikkausliiga season. The season was tough for the team and Jyry played only in five league matches, including the relegation play-offs. After the relegation, Jyry stayed in HIFK and next season the club won the promotion back to Veikkausliiga.

Kuopion Palloseura

Jyry transferred to KuPS ahead of the 2019 Veikkausliiga season, which ultimately led to winning a championship title, KuPS's first title since 1976. In the early 2020, Jyry broke his achilles tendon in training and was forced to miss the whole 2020 season.[2] After recovering from the injury, he played only a total of 108 minutes in the 2021 regular season under Simo Valakari and decided to leave the club.

FC Inter Turku

On 24 November 2021, it was announced that Jyry had signed with Inter Turku on a two-year deal, starting in 2022.[3] In the 2022 season, Inter reached to the finals of both the Finnish League Cup and the Finnish Cup, eventually coming up short and losing both games. Jyry was named the captain of Inter for the 2023 season.[4] In June 2023, Jyry was named the Veikkausliiga Player of the Month.[5]
