Kanata Okajima (岡嶋 かな多, Okajima Kanata, born July 7, 1984) is a multi-platinum songwriter raised in Tokyo.

Kanata is a multi-platinum songwriter, top-liner & vocal producer. She has accrued more than 130 No. #1 hits, and got the Japanese Grammy on 2017.

She co-wrote “Crystal Snow” by BTS that went No.1 in more than 17 countries, wrote “DA DA DANCE” by Baby Metal that went No.1 on US Billboard Rock Chart, and also “Kissin’ My Lips " by Snowman, that sold million on 2020.

Career

She featured alongside Rakutensai in Kors.K's song "Bounce Bounce Bounce" on “Konami beatmania IIDX 18 Resort Anthem”(2010).

She participated as the vocalist for all the songs on Lady Gaga's punk cover album "A GAG PUNK”(2011).

She signed a contract with Roasting House, a music agency based in Sweden, and began her full-fledged activities primarily focused on international markets(2013).

The theme song "Happiness," for the drama series "Dear Sister," which she provided the lyrics for, became a hit. It was the most searched lyrics of the second half of 2014(2014).

She participated as a composer for Girls' Generation's album "LOVE&PEACE," which won the Best 5 Album (Asia) at the 28th Japan Gold Disc Awards.

She won the Songs of the Year at the Japan Record Awards for her lyrics and composition of Daichi Miura's "EXCITE," the theme song for "Kamen Rider Ex-Aid”(2017).

The song "Crystal Snow," which she wrote lyrics and composed for BTS, reached the No.1 spot in 17 countries, and the album it was included in became a worldwide hit.

The best album "Finally" by Namie Amuro, for which she provided vocal direction for 15 songs, achieved double-million hits(2018).

She became a topic for writing the lyrics for the theme song "Fight for your heart" for the drama series "TWO WEEKS," starring Haruma Miura(2019).

The album "METAL GALAXY" by BABYMETAL, which included the song "DA DA DANCE feat. Tak Matsumoto" that she wrote lyrics and composed, reached 13th place on the Billboard chart in the United States and became the first album by a Japanese artist to reach the top spot on the Billboard ROCK Albums chart.

She won the Best Album of the Year award at the "MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2020" for her involvement in writing lyrics and composing for BABYMETAL's album "METAL GALAXY”.

The single "Shōko" by Johnny's WEST, for which she was involved in writing lyrics and composing, was certified as a platinum record by Recording Industry Association of Japan.
