Af banen (aka: We Are the Champions) is a 2005 Danish independent comedy film directed by Martin Hagbjer.

Plot

Torben, an unemployed soccer player, becomes the trainer for a local school soccer team which includes his 13-year-old son, David. He now has a chance both to repair his damaged relationship with David, and lead the team to victory.

Critical reception

Martin Hagbjer won the 2005 Prize of the Children's Jury at Lübeck Nordic Film Days for Af banen.

Af banen also won as Best Film at Stockholm Filmfestival Junior.[1][permanent dead link]

Af banen was nominated for a 2006 Robert Award as Best Children/Family Film.
