Jabez Wolffe

Jabez Wolffe (19 November 1876 - 22 October 1943) attempted to swim the English Channel from 1906 to 1914 in 21 attempts.

Biography

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, on 19 November 1876 as Jacob Wolffe, he was generally known by the first name Jabez. The closest attempt was in 1908, which failed by yards. Three other occasions were by under a mile. He died in 1943.[1]
