Frank Lisciandro is an American photographer, film maker, writer and musical journalist with works in photojournalism, reportage, documentary and street photography. He was born in Brooklyn, New York. He received a BA in Photojournalism from Michigan State University and continued at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), graduating with an MFA in Motion Pictures and while at UCLA studied photography with Robert Heineken.

His works have appeared in books, magazines, documentary films, newspapers, journals, videos, record albums. He has undertaken a number of solo exhibitions and group shows, and has directed, produced and written a number of films.

The Doors and Jim Morrison

While studying at UCLA, Lisciandro developed a close friendship with Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek - singer and keyboardist with Doors respectively. He has been involved in many posthumous Morrison projects.[1][2] In 1979, he co-produced the recording of An American Prayer that was nominated for a Grammy Award and won the Dutch Edison Award. His work has featured several books about the Doors: An Hour for Magic, Jim Morrison: Diario Fotografico,[1] Jim Morrison: Friends Gathered Together[3]. He also co-directed, produced and wrote the documentaries Feast of Friends, Dawn's Highway and HWY: An American Pastoral.[4]

His photographs of Morrison have been used in Rolling Stone, the French magazine Rock & Folk, British music publications New Musical Express (NME), Uncut and Mojo as well as Italian publications La Republica and L'Unita.
