HMS Hampton Court was a 70-gun third rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy, launched at Deptford Dockyard in 1678.[2]
She underwent a rebuild in 1701 at Blackwall Yard, remaining a 70-gun third rate. Hampton Court was captured in the Action of 2 May 1707 by a French squadron off Beachy Head, and sold out one year later to Spain.[3]
The ship met her demise as a flagship of the ill-fated 1715 Treasure Fleet that was wrecked by a hurricane on the Florida Treasure Coast.
