"The Charade" is a song performed by American neo soul singer D'Angelo (officially credited to D'Angelo and the Vanguard). It appeared on his third studio album Black Messiah and was issued as a limited-edition seven-inch single for Record Store Day on May 1, 2015. The single's B-side is the Black Messiah track "1000 Deaths." The song's lyrics are credited to D'Angelo (under his real name, Michael Archer) along with Vanguard member Kendra Foster; the music was composed by Archer and Questlove. The song was produced by D'Angelo.
