Protoclupea is an extinct genus of prehistoric bony fish that lived from the Oxfordian to the early Tithonian stage of the Late Jurassic epoch.[1] Fossils have been found in the Domeyko Range of Antofagasta Region, northern Chile.[2] The genus has been compared with other South American fishes as Luisiella and Varasichthys.[3]
