The Sun Country PGA Championship is a golf tournament that is the championship of the Sun Country section of the PGA of America. The section was formed in 1974, encompassing the area of New Mexico and western Texas. The championship tournament was started in 1961 when it was only a chapter of the Southwest section.[1] Don Klein of Four Hills Country Club in Albuquerque, New Mexico holds the record with most victories, winning six championships in a row and seven total in the 1960s. Former PGA Tour professional Tim Norris, winner of the 1982 Sammy Davis Jr.-Greater Hartford Open, won the 1992 championship.
