Union Iron Works (St. Louis)
The Union Iron Works (also known as Union Marine Works) was a shipbuilding and engineering firm in Carondelet, St. Louis, Missouri, United States. It was operated by James Eads during the American Civil War and built a number of ironclads for the Union Navy.
Prior to its lease by Eads in 1861, the facility was known as the Carondelet Marine Railway Company.
In 1869 and 1870, facilities of the Union Iron Works were used by William Nelson and Co to fabricate the caissons used during construction of Eads Bridge.
