Mbamu

4°15′S 15°25′E / 4.250°S 15.417°E Mbamu (also: M´Bamou and Bamu) is an island in the Republic of the Congo (Congo Brazzaville). It is situated in the Pool Malebo, a lake formed by the River Congo and has surface area of 180 km2.[1] To the south lies Kinshasa and to the northwest lies Brazzaville. Mbamu is a demilitarized zone under the neutral regime established in the Franco-Belgian Convention of 1908.[2]
