Orellia is a genus of tephritid or fruit flies in the family Tephritidae.^[1]^[2]^[3]

Orellia ruficauda feeds on creeping thistle and has been reported to be the most effective biological control agent for that plant.^[4] Its larvae parasitize the seed heads, feeding solely upon fertile seed heads.^[5]
