Amado Ursua (born September 13, 1956) is a Mexican former boxer in the Light Flyweight division. He is a former Mexican national Light Flyweight and WBC world Light Flyweight champion.[1]

Professional career

Amado won the Mexican National Light Flyweight Championship by upsetting veteran German Torres in a twelfth-round unanimous decision.[2]

WBC Light Flyweight Championship

On February 6, 1982, in Panama City, Panama Amado Ursua won his WBC Light Flyweight Championship by upsetting a one loss Hilario Zapata by K.O. in the second round.[3] Many had thought Amado did not have a chance against the Panamanian.[4]

He would go on to lose his WBC title in a very controversial fifteen round Majority decision to Tadashi Tomori in Tokyo, Japan.[5]
