Leslie Dixon Meek , (born May 9, 1965), is an administrative law judge in Washington D.C.

Background Information

Leslie Meek was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 9, 1965. She attended New York and Chicago Public Schools. In 1987, Leslie graduated from Fisk University where she earned a B.A. in Political Science. Three years later, she earned her Juris Doctorate from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. While attending law school, she was personally recruited by former U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno and became an Assistant State's Attorney in Miami-Dade County, Florida. She also served as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Miami and as Assistant General Counsel for the Comptroller of the State of Florida.

In July 1995, she moved to the United Teachers of Dade, the fourth largest teacher's local in the country. In May 2000, she was appointed General Counsel for the United Teachers of Dade, becoming the first African-American to ascend to the position. She is currently an administrative law judge in Washington D.C.

Leslie Meek was the Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus Spouses organization. For more than 20 years, the CBC Spouses have worked with sponsors and organizations to establish educational and training opportunities for high school and college students. And as a result, the CBC Spouses Education Scholarship Program has awarded more than $6 million in academic scholarships.[1]

She is also a member of the Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church, a life member of the NAACP and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. She has served as a Board Member of the Jackson Memorial Hospital Foundation, one of the largest public hospitals in the country. She has also served on the Florida Bar Grievance Committee, the Dade County Advisory Board for Minority Women Businesses and the Camillus House Capital Campaign. Leslie Meek has two children, Lauren and Kendrick Jr.
