Ray Ball is an accounting researcher and the Sidney Davidson Professor at the Graduate School of Business of the University of Chicago. He was a 2009 inductee into the Accounting Hall of Fame in recognition of his contributions to the field.[1][2]

He served as editor of the Journal of Accounting Research, one of the top journals in accounting research, from 2000–2015, and was founding editor of the Australian Journal of Management.[3]

He graduated from the University of New South Wales with a bachelor of commerce degree in accounting. He received MBA and Ph.D. degrees from University of Chicago in 1968 and 1972, respectively.[3][4]
