Background

The United States became a Province in 1919, being incorporated in Maryland, although its headquarters is located in Ojai, California.

Regionary Bishops

The Rt. Rev. Irving S. Cooper served as the United States first Regionary Bishop, who served from 1919 through 1935. the second Regionary Bishop of the United States was the Charles Hampton, who served from 1935 through 1945, when he was dismissed by the Presiding Bishop, Frank Piggott.

The third Regionary Bishop of the United States was John T. Eklund, who served from 1945 through 1948. The fourth Regionary Bishop of the United States was Newton A. Dahl, who served from 1948 through 1971. The fifth Regionary Bishop of the United States was William H. Pitkin, who served from 1971 through 1974.

Currently the presiding Bishop of the LCC USA is Bishop William Downey.
