Christoffer Tobias Andersson (born 22 October 1978) is a Swedish former football player and current manager.
Career
Andersson was born in Nybro. He has previously played for Nybro IF (until 1996), Helsingborgs IF (1996–2003), Lillestrøm S.K. (2004–06) and Hannover 96 (2006–07).[2] After not living up to the expectations at the Bundesliga team, he was released back to Sweden after only a year.[3]
His return to Helsingborgs IF in late May 2007 was slightly controversial among the HIF fans, as Andersson, by some, is seen as a traitor after having left the club as a Bosman player in 2003, in a time when the club due to its acute financial situation needed all the money it could get. Andersson's signing for Lillestrøm S.K. was the biggest source of anger, as that club was seen as equal to HIF in level. Some fans argue that it was obvious that Andersson left HIF entirely of economical reasons and therefore, they contend that he should not have been taken back.[citation needed]
Andersson has represented the Sweden national team, but was left out of the Euro 2004 squad, even though he was a big part of getting Sweden to the finals. When this happened, Andersson swore that he would never play for the Swedish national manager at the time, Lars Lagerbäck. But he honoured six caps between January 2005 and March 2006 at the occasion of five friendlies and one World Cup 2006 Qualifyer (4 times as starting line-up player).[4]
Managerial career
In 2016, Andersson coached the U17 team of Helsingborgs IF.[5] In November 2016, Andersson was appointed assistant manager of the first team of the club under manager Per-Ola Ljung.[5] After 2,5 years as assistant manager, the club announced on 18 June 2019, that he had left the club following the appointment of new manager Henrik Larsson.[6]
