John Leaney (christened 20 May 1790) was an English cricketer who played for Kent. He was born in Hawkhurst.

Leaney made two first-class appearances for Kent, both against Sussex. His debut, in 1825, in which he batted as an opener, saw him score one run in the first innings and finish not out in the second innings.

His second match came a year later, in a fixture between the same two teams, in which he scored a pair, batting in the tailend.
