Justin Downey (born 11 November 1986) is a South African rugby union footballer for Japanese Top East League side Tokyo Gas. His regular playing position is flanker.

Career

He started his career at the Template:Rut Sharks (Currie Cup), making his debut for their Vodacom Cup side, the Template:Rut Natal Wildebeest in the 2008 Vodacom Cup competition. He was included in the Template:Rut Sharks squad for the 2009 Super 14 season and even named on the bench for their match against the Template:Rut Force in Perth, but failed to make an appearance.^[1]

Lack of game time saw him move to the Template:Rut Griquas in 2010, where he spent the next three years and made close to fifty appearances. During this spell, he also represented the Template:Rut Cheetahs during the 2012 Super Rugby season.

In 2014, Downey signed a contract with Suntory Sungoliath.^[3]
