Penicillium excelsum is a species of fungus of the genus Penicillium.[1] The fungus was first detected on Brazil nuts (from Bertholletia excelsa in 2016, closely following on the heels of Aspergillus bertholletius also found in Brazil nuts, described in 2012.[2] P. glabrum and P. citrinum were also isolated from the Brazil-nut tree.
