Qin Gang (born March 1966) is a diplomat of the People's Republic of China, current Vice Minister of foreign affairs of China.[2] He is also the twenty-second spokesperson since the spokesperson system was established in the ministry back in 1983.

Life

Qin Gang was born and raised in Tianjin. In 1984 he entered University of International Relations, majoring in science of international politics, where he graduated in 1988.

After graduation, he was appointed as an official in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China and over a period of 18 years worked his way up to the position of spokesperson. From 2005 to 2010, he served as the spokesperson of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China and Deputy Director of Foreign Ministry Information Department.

In September 2010, he was named acting Embassy of the People's Republic of China, London, a position he held until December 2011, when he was transferred to Beijing as the Director of Foreign Ministry Information Department.[3][1] Since 2017 he is working as Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director-General of the Protocol Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China.[4]

In September 2018, Qin was appointed as the vice minister of the Foreign Affairs Ministry.[5]
