51°53′53″N 4°20′24″W / 51.898°N 4.340°W / 51.898; -4.340 Llannewydd or Newchurch is a parish in Carmarthenshire, Wales. It is 3 miles (5 km) north of Carmarthen on the banks of the Gwili. The church was rebuilt in 1829.[1]

Notable people

Bridget Vaughan, philanthropist, was born in Llannewydd and baptised on 30 October 1698. She died in Laugharne, Carmarthenshire on 11 December 1779. She was the chief supporter of Griffith Jones and his system of circulating schools.[2] She was also known as Madam Bevan.[3]
