Sandro Kopp (born 1978) is a German/New Zealand visual artist, based in the Highlands of Scotland.[1] His work deals with the concept of "mediated presence" [citation needed] and explores the intersection of classical painting and digital technology.

Biography

Kopp grew up in Germany and obtained Abitur with main subjects in Fine Art and English in 1998.[2] He then immigrated to New Zealand, his mother's home country,[2] in 2000 where he lived and studied in Wellington.[1]

Kopp has been in a relationship with Academy Award winning actress Tilda Swinton since 2004.[citation needed]

Since 2006, he has been based in Nairn in the Highland region of Scotland working primarily on oil portraits of family and friends painted from Skype conversations.[1]
