Alan Futerfas (born 1961[1]) is a criminal defense attorney, who has worked with the US President's son, Donald Trump Jr.[2][3][4][5]

Mr. Futerfas has twenty-five years of litigation experience representing individuals and companies in traditional and white collar cases, trials and appeals. While earlier in his career he defended high-profile organized crime cases, in the late 1990s he transitioned to largely handling white-collar cases, SEC investigations and other regulatory matters.[6] The firm has represented corporate officers, directors, hedge funds, an NRSRO and private equity principals in significant and highly publicized cases in the New York region. The firm represents individuals and businesses in civil litigation. Futerfas has chaired seminars on Corporate Investigations and Ethics at the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. He has lectured on ethics and other topics at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and has lectured on ethics and corporate investigations for the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) at its annual conference in Aspen, Colorado. He has taught Advanced Trial Advocacy at Fordham Law School and has presided over various law school trial advocacy competitions. Futerfas served on the Judiciary Committee and the Criminal Law Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City New York. Futerfas argued and won a criminal appeal before the United States Supreme Court (prisoner's rights case). Futerfas' firm has also represented a Rikers Island female prisoner in a noted 2015 rights and sexual assault case. Ellen Resnick, a lawyer at Futerfas' firm: “The record we have presented to the court shows inadequate investigation and discipline of correction officers who are alleged to have committed sexual assault.” Futerfas stated, “This decision has the potential to provide a wider group of inmates with a means to recover from the city for sexual abuse and harm suffered at Rikers Island. It is our hope that this decision, and the new legal exposure that it represents, will induce the city to take aggressive, meaningful steps to remedy this situation and make Rikers safe for women.” [7] Mr. Futerfas has been selected for inclusion in New York’s Super Lawyers for the past four years and has been selected for inclusion as a Super Lawyer in its Corporate Counsel edition. Futerfas has been AV Peer Review Rated and named an AV Preeminent Lawyer by Martindale-Hubbell since 1999.[8]

He has also worked on several cases that have been reported to involve organised crime families, including the New York Mafia[9] and Mafia hitman Gregory Scarpa.[10] Futerfas has represented many accused individuals in white collar and cyber crime cases as well. Among these were Nikita Kuzmin.[11] Another individual he represented was one of those accused of stealing from JPMorgan Chase in 2014.[12]
