Lowell Davidson (1941 – 31 July 1990)[1] was a jazz pianist from Boston, Massachusetts. After studying biochemistry at Harvard University, he moved to New York and played with Ornette Coleman who urged the ESP Disk record label to record and release an album featuring Davidson with bassist Gary Peacock and drummer Milford Graves. Davidson also played drums in an early line-up of The New York Art Quartet, aluminum double bass, and organ. He died of tuberculosis in 1990 at the age of 49.

Guitarist Joe Morris (b. 1955) studied and performed with Davidson and has described the pianist as a major influence.[1]
