Enamul Haque (এনামুল হক) is a Bangladesh Awami League politician and the incumbent Member of Parliament from Rajshahi-4.

Early life

Haque was born on 21 October 1969. He completed his undergraduate in engineering and also has a MBA.[1]

Career

Haque was elected to Parliament from Rajshahi-4 in 2008 and on 5 January 2014 as a Bangladesh Awami League candidate.[2] On 16 September 2014, Bangladesh Anti-Corruption Commission recommended charging him with corruption regarding his company, Ena Enterprise.[3] On 28 September 2017, local Awami League leaders in Rajshahi accused him of fermenting divisions in the Awami League and creating fractional feuds.[4] He criticized Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, editor of The Daily Observer, after a report in the newspaper accused Haque of being involved with the drug trade.[5]

Arrest

On 25 February 2020, the Criminal Investigation Department received a tip from an anonymous whistleblower that Haque was involved with several Casino Rings in Dhaka. Officers of Dhaka CID were dispatched to one of his residents and on arrival seized $9,300, 174 Malaysian Ringgit, Rs5,350, 1,195 Chinese Yuan, 11,560 Thai baht, 100 UAE Dirham.[6][7]
