The Social and Liberal Democrats took the most seats and won an overall majority

Elections to the Gordon District Council took place in May 1988, alongside elections to the councils of Scotland's various other districts. The number of seats and the total vote share won by each party is listed below.[1]

  SLD: 10 seats, 49.7%
  Independent: 6 seats, 17.0%
  Conservative: 0 seats, 22.2%
  SNP: 0 seats, 5.0%
  Labour: 0 seats, 3.5%

Other parties took 2.8% of the vote. Voter turnout was 37.4%, the lowest in Scotland.
