Joshua Calderón (born September 11, 1996) is a Puerto Rican football player who currently plays as a defender for Boca Gibraltar and Puerto Rico men's national team.[2]

Biography

Joshua Javier Calderón was born in New Haven, Connecticut,[contradictory] and grew up in North Haven, Connecticut. He is the second child of Marilyn Calderon (b. 1969), an educator, and Edgar Ramiro Calderon (b. 1965), an insurance adjuster. His second given name, "Josh", was chosen after "Joshua in the Bible". His grandparents on his father's side, Ramiro Calderon married Leonisa Canas, both from Antoquia Medellin, Colombia. From his mother's side his grandparent Angel Chaparro married Luisa Feliciano, both of the Island Aguada, Puerto Rico. Joshua has one older brother, Neekoli Edgar (b. 1995), and younger brother Giovanni, (b. 2002); both are also football players. Joshua grew up in a Catholic home in the parish of Our Lady of Mt Carmel. He grew up playing travel soccer for his town of North Haven.

College football

Joshua Calderón was top goal scorer as a center back his senior year of college beating top 25 Uconn as well as tying top 20 Old Dominion. Prior to a successful four years at Iona College, Joshua Calderón won a USSDA National Championship with PDA Academy U18 in 2014. He also played for leading National Championship high school, Saint Benedict's Prep where he played target striker and accumulated numerous goals and assists as a starter. Benedict's hosted an international tournament where they played Maccabi Haifa of Israel, Liverpool of England, and Fuddercol of Colombia.
