Karen Summer (born July 22, 1962) is an American pornographic actress.[1]
Early life
Summer was raised in Tarzana and Encino, Los Angeles.[5] She worked as an extra, photo double, stand-in, and production assistant in the mainstream entertainment industry prior to working in porn.[3][5] She worked on The Dukes of Hazzard for three years[3][5] when she was between the ages of 18 and 20.[6]
Career
Summer was introduced to the adult film industry by Jim South, whom she met at an El Torito.[5][7] She did her first nude photo shoot with Bobby Hollander in the summer of 1982, four days before her 20th birthday.[6][7] Her first scene was in the film Shades of Ecstasy.[5][7] She initially used the stage name Ricky Lane before changing it to her current stage name after approximately six months in the business.[5] She quit performing in adult films in 1993.[3][4] For the most part, she spent the last five years of her career working as a feature dancer and burlesque performer.[7]
In 2014, Summer returned to the industry after she ran into Nina Hartley, who encouraged her to resume her adult film career.[5] She currently hosts her own show on XXX Porn Star Radio.[3][5]
Personal life
Summer lived in Florida for twenty years during her hiatus from porn.[4] She was married for ten years[4] and got divorced in 2000.[3][5] She has an associate's degree in law and used to work as a paralegal, and also used to work as a medical assistant and certified nursing assistant.[3][4][5] She moved back to Los Angeles in February 2014.[5]
