Awam (Template:Lang-ur) is the Urdu language word for common people or general public. In early 1900 the word is extensively used by political system in Indian subcontinent to refer general population. Later the word remained in use in Pakistan but India adopted several Hindi words i.e. Janata, Log or Lok (see: Lok Sabha), Gana or Praja.

Awami is the adjectival form for Awam.
