Life Cinematic is a BBC television series featuring in-depth interviews with notable film-makers, interspersed with clips from movies which have influenced their life and work.[1][2] Together with The Film Review and other output, the series fills the gap left by the cancellation of the BBCs long-running Film... series in 2018. It is produced by Somethin’ Else and presented either by Edith Bowman or Robbie Collin, who give a brief résumé of the interviewee's career at the start of each programme, as well as conducting the interview. In the first 60-minute episode, broadcast on 30 January 2020, Edith Bowman spoke to Sir Sam Mendes, the British director whose blockbuster film 1917 had been released three weeks previously.[2][3]
