He was considered to be one of the most talented athletes in Gothenburg during his active career in multiple sports.[1] He played 103 international matches in hockey as back and participated in world championships from 1947 to 1953, and the Winter Olympics in 1948 and 1952.[2][3]

In 1951 Johansson won the Swedish ice hockey title with Hammarby IF. After retiring from competitions he worked as an ice hockey coach and sports administrator with BK Nordia.[2]
