Udumbara (Sinhala: උදුම්බරා) is a 2018 Sri Lankan Sinhalese sports drama film directed by K.S Chammanthraj and produced by MTV Channel as a Sirasa Movie. It stars Jackson Anthony Harshi Rasanga and a newcomer Nadeeshani in lead roles along with Sarath Kothalawala and Janaka Kumbukage. Music composed by Dhina.[1] Member of Parliament Hon. Hirunika Premachandra made her acting debut. It is the 1314th Sri Lankan film in the Sinhalese cinema.[2]
Plot
Ananda is a sports coach in a school. He has become a drunkard because of grief of losing both his wife and only son at once in a car accident. Suddenly he and his friend meets a young girl named Udumbara in that village who has born talent to run fast. Ananda becomes interested in developing the talent of her and gives up drinking. The story moves on as she becomes a national champ and finally a world champ. There is a sub plot where there is a court case going on about the car accident. The person who drove the car introduced the coach named Shanika Madam of his sister to Udumbara and she coaches Udumbara for the international level.
