James Bowler, CB is a senior British civil servant currently serving as Director General Public Spending at HM Treasury having previously worked as Director General Tax and Welfare and Director for Strategy, Planning and Budget. Bowler was promoted to Director General in April 2015.[1] He served as Principal Private Secretary to the Prime Minister from 2010 until December 2011. He was appointed Companion of the Order of the Bath (CB) in the 2012 New Year Honours.[2]
