The Discoverers is a 2012 American dark comedy directed and written by Justin Schwarz. The film stars Griffin Dunne, Madeleine Martin, and Cara Buono.
Plot
History professor and aspiring author Lewis Birch (Dunne) heads on a road trip with his children Zoe (Martin) and Jack (Graye) to attend a conference. However, he learns early into the trip that his mother is ill, and heads to visit her, where he finds she has died. His father, Stanley (Margolin) decides to follow a Lewis and Clark reenactment trip, the family ends up traveling together.

The website's critics consensus reads: "The Discoverers is occasionally guilty of contrived silliness, but its humor and genuine warmth are more than enough to compensate for its modest shortcomings."[2]
