Gabriela Rosa (born October 12, 1966) is an American former politician.

Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Rosa received her bachelor's degrees in marketing and business from Universidad Herman Henrique Ureña and Instituto Tecnólogico de Santo Domingo.[citation needed] In 1994, Rosa emigrated to the United States[citation needed] and settled in New York City.[1] She was involved in the retail industry in Manhattan[citation needed] before becoming a staffer to New York City Councilman Miguel Martinez and to Assemblyman Herman D. Farrell, Jr.[1]

In 2005, Rosa became a United States citizen. In 2012, she was elected to the New York State Assembly as a Democrat.[1] On June 27, 2014, Rosa pleaded guilty in United States District Court for lying about a sham marriage in order to become a United States citizen and for failing to disclose income and assets in a bankruptcy filing in 2011.[2][3][4] She resigned her Assembly seat as part of the plea deal[5] and was later sentenced to a year and a day in prison.[4]
