Sakabaşı is a village of Sivrice District, of Elazığ Province in eastern Turkey,[2] on Malatya highway 33 km away from the center of Elazig.

The town was formerly known as Pinçirik.[3] The population in 2019 was 359,[4] though it has fluctuated wildly over the past few years.

The village is inhabited by the Kurdish Parçikan tribe.[5]

Earthquakes

In 2007 an earthquake of magnitude 3.5 occurred on Sunday, February 25, 2007, centered on the town of Ortaçalı,[6] just to the south, and Sakabaşı was also impacted by the 2020 Elazığ earthquake.
