Afidnes railway station (Template:Lang-el, Sidirodromikos Stathmos Afidnon) is a railway station in Afidnes, a suburb north of Athens, Greece. It is situated on the Piraeus–Platy railway, at 40.086 km from Piraeus. Located outside the village of Afidnes, It is owned by OSE, but service are provided by TrainOSE, through Proastiakos from Athens to Chalcis.[2]
History
The station was opened on 8 March 1904. It has three platforms (one not in use) and a siding. After the station was built, a new settlement arose near it named Stathmos Afidnon ("Afidnes station"). Initially, the station was known as the Kiourka station (Κιούρκα), after the former name of Afidnes. In 2001, 345 passingers where recorded using the station, 2011, it was recorded 293.[citation needed]
Service
The station is served by trains of Proastiakos with frequent services to Athens, Oinoi and Chalcis.[2]
Popular culture
A 1974 episode of the YENED Greek soap opera Border Station (Μεθοριακός Σταθμός) was filmed at Afidnes railway station.[citation needed]
