Basu Shanker is the former Head Strength and Conditioning Coach of the India national cricket team.[1][2] He is the man behind the fitness success of several top performing athletes, including Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin, Dipika Pallikal Karthik and Dinesh Karthik.[3] He is also the strength and conditioning coach of the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Personal life

Basu was born on 3rd August, 1968 into a Brahmin family in Chennai. He was born to Shanker Narayanan and Shantha Shanker. He is married to Anurita Basu and has a son and daughter. His son Arjun Basu(22 years old) is also a strength and Conditioning coach and he passed out with a Master’s degree from the prestigious Leeds Beckett university and his daughter is Shruthi Basu who is 11 years old. Basu was a phenomenal sprinter in the 80s and 90s and his switch to a performance coach was quite organic and his quest towards perfection and excellence drove him to the fitness field in the 90s and achieved so many accolades in the process. He is now regarded as one of the best strength and conditioning coaches in the world and the most sought after coach.[4][5][6][7][8][9][10]
