Ende Gelände
Appearance
Ende Gelände (German saying for "here and no further") is a German civil disobedience movement occupying coal mines to raise awareness for climate justice. Ende Gelände has been organizing mass civil disobedience actions against coal mines in Rhineland, Lusatia and Leipzig[1] since 2015. Some actions have had up to 5500 participants.
Organisation
Ende Gelände is organised by an alliance of different anti-coal groups in Germany: grassroots climate action groups, large environmental organisations, left-wing groups and others.[2] Big organisations like Fridays For Future, Greenpeace and Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland have expressed solidarity with the movement.[1]
