Captain Dr Mike Young MBE (born 28 November 1968) is a senior Royal Navy officer who serves as Captain Naval Recruiting.

Biography

Before joining the Royal Navy, Young studied Environmental Science at the University of Ulster. Young joined the Royal Navy as a Training Management Officer, since completing two master's degrees with dissertations in leadership and a Doctor in Business Administration[1]. Young is also a visiting fellow of the Henley Business School. A Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, and a Fellow of the Institute of Business Consulting he is also a Certified Management Consultant, Coach and Supervisor.[2]

His previous appointments include Dean of the Royal Navy Engineering School and Continuous Improvement Team Leader.[3] He also spent four years as the Royal Navy's Head of Leadership and Management Development, developing the model on which their leadership selection and training is based.[4]

Awards

Young was awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List 2005, in recognition for his work on developing the Royal Navy's training and selection process.[5]
