Jóhannes Stefánsson
Johannes Stefansson (born in Iceland in 1973 ) is known as a whistleblower in connection with the so-called Fishrot Files . The documents are e-mails showing that the company Samherji had paid hundreds of millions to senior politicians and officials in Namibia, with the intention of obtaining the country's coveted fishing quota. Stefansson admits that he himself was involved in the fraud, but believes that he acted on behalf of Samherji's boss: Þorsteinn Már Baldvinsson . To prove this, he has leaked thousands of emails to Wikileaks.[1][2]
The scandal has also reached Norway, when it was revealed that Norway's largest bank, Den Norske Bank, was involved in the transfer of money used in the alleged bribes.
