Caley Chelios (born 1993) is a reporter/radio color commentator for the Tampa Bay Lightning. She made a number of appearances on the NHL Network.[1]

Early life

She was born in Chicago, Illinois. Her dad is Hockey Hall of Famer Chris Chelios. Her brothers Dean and Jake also played hockey for Michigan State University and Jake briefly played for the Detroit Red Wings. She also has a younger sister Tara.

College

She accepted a lacrosse scholarship from Northwestern University. She played four years on the women's lacrosse team and captured a NCAA National Championship her freshman year and made three consecutive final four appearances.[2] She studied communications and sociology.[3] She entered the Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism where she got Masters. She had the opportunity to report on many unique sporting events including the 2016 NHL Winter Classic and 2016 NFL Draft while at Grad school.

Career

Chelios joined the Lightning as a reporter beginning in the 2016-17 NHL season. She added Color Commentary duties in her third season with the team. She is the Color Commentator during road games.

Personal life

She is of Greek Descent.[4] She met Danny Vitale while both were attending Northwestern University. They were married in Chicago in the summer of 2019.[5] The Guest List included Eddie Vedder, John Cusack, and Kid Rock.[6] He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2016 NFL Draft in the sixth round. He currently plays for Green Bay Packers. She announced on January that she and Danny are expecting their first child in April and that she would miss out on the reminding road trips for the rest of the 2019-2020 NHL season. [7][8]
