Brede is a suburb (technically, a bydel, a named neighbourhood) 14 km north of Copenhagen, Denmark; it is not a part of Virum in the Lyngby-Taarbæk Kommune, and approximately 3.500 live there. The Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Frilandsmuseet (The Open Air Museum),[1] and The National Museum of Denmark's new museum, Brede Works, is located in Brede. Nærumbanen stops in Brede.

  • Ferdinand Richardt (1819 in Brede - 1895) Danish-American artist, known for his lithographs of Danish manor houses and for his paintings of Niagara Falls
  • Bille August (born 1948 in Brede) a Danish director, screenwriter and cinematographer of film and television [2]
