Gattimela is a 2019 Indian Kannada-language television daily soap that airs on Zee Kannada. This series is directed by Koramangala Anil and produced by Joni Harsha. It premiered on March 11, 2019, and is aired from Monday to Saturday at 8:00 pm on Zee Kannada.[1] The show is a remake of Tamil serial Poove Poochudava, which airs on Zee Tamil[2]. The series stars Raksh, Nisha Ravikrishnan as the main lead. Gattimela is the most-watched daily soap on Kannada television in 2020.[3]

Plot

The story revolves around three families: Parimala Manjunath's family, Suhasini Vashishta's family, and Padma Ashwath's family. Padma Ashwath is the sister of Parimala. Parimala Manjunath's family is a typical middle-class family. Aarthi, Amulya, Aditi, and Anju are the daughters of Parimala. Suhasini Vashishta's family is richer. Vedanth Vashishta, Vikranth Vashishta, and Aadya are children of Suhasini Vashishta. Padma Ashwath's family is also rich. Sarthak and Sarika are Padma Ashwanth's children. The story starts with Aadya and Sarthak's marriage ceremony. In marriage, Vikranth falls in love with Aarthi because she was similar to the girl who used to come in his dreams.[4]

Sarika, who had an interest in Vikranth, plans a plot against Parimala to bring the family down. A necklace, which was given to Amulya by the Padma, goes missing, and Parimala's family becomes tensed to know about this. While marriage proceedings go on, Amulya is questioned by Sarika regarding the necklace. Amulya asks for some time and eventually discovers who had stolen it. Vikranth had recorded a video when Sarika stole it form Aaarthi's bag. By the time Amulya reached the place to explain what had exactly happened, Parimala and family were already humiliated, and the police are called to arrest them. Parimala's family leaves the marriage hall disappointed.

Later, Aarthi gets engaged to Gowtham and Vikranth attempts suicide after getting the news. Vedanth and Amulya, who hate each other, join efforts to help Vikranth and Aarthi to unite. Through time, Vedanth learns about the real profession of Gowtham. He tries hard to prove the real personality of Gowtham but fails each time. Finally, on the day of marriage, Gowtham's real identity is revealed, and also the love between Aarthi and Vikranth is no more a secret. After initial disturbances and misunderstandings, both families agree to the marriage of Aarthi and Vikranth.

Suhasini, who is not interested in Aarthi and Vikranth's marriage, brings up the discussion about Vedanth's marriage and asks for Vikranth to convince Vedanth for his marriage. Suhasini calls her mother Vyjayanthi to come home, as she believes, Vedanth would listen to her. Vyjyanthi questions Vedanth regarding his marriage. Aadya accidentally tells Vyjayanthi that Amulya is Vedanth girlfriend. Amulya agrees to act as Vedanth's girlfriend.

Amulya and Vedanth get to know each other during this period of drama as girlfriend and boyfriend. Dhruva, who is the brother of Vedanth, Vikranth, and Aadya is now introduced into the story. While Vikranth and Aadya are happy to see Dhruva, Vedanth is furious on seeing him near Parimala's house. Vyjayanthi plans a picnic to check if Vedanth and Amulya truly love each other. While Vyjyanthi is completely convinced about the relationship of Amulya and Vedanth, Amulya slowly realizes that she is in love with Vedanth. Amulya calls Vedanth and tells him that she can't act as his girlfriend anymore because she wants to be his real girlfriend. Vedanth misunderstands her and to everyone's surprise, he introduces Sahithya as his girlfriend. Amulya is shattered when she hears Vedanth's decision. Sahithya was doing the same thing which Amulya was doing before; she was asked by Vedanth to act as his girlfriend and it remained a secret between them.

Marriage preparation starts for Aarthi and Vikranth, with all the required programs taking place simultaneously at both families. Vedanth and Amulya become much more closer during this period, and slowly Vedanth starts developing feelings towards Amulya. Just before the marriage, Suhasini makes an announcement saying that Vedanth will be getting engaged to Sahithya. Engagement takes place, Amulya is heartbroken, and everyone is shocked by this development. In the marriage, Sarika kidnaps Aarthi and takes her place stepping on stage with her face covered. Aadya sees the reflection of Sarika's face in the water and she is shocked. Sarika, who gets to know about this, threatens Amulya that she would kill Aarthi if she tells everyone about her. Amulya identifies the place where Aarthi was kidnapped and where she is being kept. With the help of Dhruva and Vedanth, Aarthi is brought back in time for her wedding. Marriage takes place, and Vikranth is married to Aarthi.

As of now, the story is at a point where Aarthi is now Aarthi Vikranth Vashishta. Vedanth is slowly understanding his feelings for Amulya.
