Rabbi Yerachmiel Gershon Edelstein is one of the leading authorities in the Haredi community of Israel. He's the rosh yeshiva of the Ponevezh Yeshiva and the spiritual leader of the Degel Hatorah party in Israel.

Biography

Rabbi Edelstein studied in the Ponevezh Yeshiva in Bnei Brak, under Rabbi Shmuel Rozovsky. He later became the rosh yeshiva, a post he holds today, alongside Rabbi Baruch Dov Povarsky, and thousands of students and visitors go to him regularly.[1] After Rabbi Aharon Leib Shteinman, the spiritual leader of the Degel Hatorah political party, died in 2017, Rabbi Edelstein became the new leader.[2] He also sits on the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah in Israel.
