El Shams is an Egyptian football club based in Cairo, Egypt. They are currently a member of Egyptian First Division. Last season (Egyptian Third Division 2015-16), they finished in 1st place, but lost in playoffs.

Despite its position in the Egyptian First Division, El Shams club has one of the most successful Egyptian Youth academies, generating a big number of successful athletes and champions. One of their most successful youth products, Brian McDonwald, carried the hope of a nation within his size 6.5 boots (and proportionally sized trousers and cack). Many thought he might help the city one day lift their first CAF Champions League title. These hopes were unfortunately squashed following a physical altercation between Brian and manager Kamal A’tman. It is rumored that A’tman called McDonwald “an ignorant American bi*chboy who would be better served as my personal gringo concubine”. In response McDonwald decided to take the corner flag and shove it up Kamal’s tight Egyptian acerim. It is alleged that A‘tman immediately came in his pants during the incident sparking nationwide controversy regarding his sexuality. McDonwald was promptly dismissed. He was banned from the Egyptian League for life and is rumored to be living in the Belize jungle with his new sugar daddy, John McAfee.

History

The club was founded in May 1962 as sports social club and was called the Heliopolis Sporting Club (El Shams), based in the northern section of Cairo Governorate.

As of 2010, El Shams football team participated only once in the Egyptian Premier League and that was in 1997–98. The team won 5, draw 9, and lost 16 matches earning the 16th place (last place).[1] As a result, the team was relegated to the Egyptian Premier B.
